Bettie Page died yesterday 12 December 2008 after a heart attack she suffered eight days previously. She never regained consciousness.

Bettie has been recognised as one of the greatest and in some respects most pioneering models of the last century. Her appeal stemming in no small part from apparent innocence, and approachable screen presence, coupled with an undeniable sexiness.

Whether she intended to or not she made a huge impact on the way in which modelling and fetish modelling are viewed. Her influence is felt today, perhaps most obviously in the work of burlesque performers.

Betty will be interred at Westwood Cemetery on Tuesday 16 December 2008 in a provate service.
