Yojiro Takita won the Oscar for best foreign language film. Not quite the same as Ron Jeremy winning best actor for a role as King Lear, but you never know … Huge congratulations to him though as he’s the first Japanese director to win best foreign language film award in five decades.

Minoru Murai first coined the phrase “pinku eiga” (pink film) to describe these films. Starting as a way to avoid Japan’s strict censorship they seem to have deteriorated in later years to films packed with gratuitous nudity and (separate) violent scenes. Not too far from Hollywood then.

Not the sort of title that I`d normally put on a post but it is exactly the title of the movie Suze and I watched this afternoon on Red Hot TV.

Fitty With Big Titties Gets Fucked is an amateur title from the online arm of Red Hot TV, a channel that`s existed for over a decade, broadcasting softcore porn on the UK`s satellite channels. Freed from the constraints of the UK`s strict broadcast franchise licensing conditions by construction of it`s video on demand online site at redhottv.co.uk, they now provide the teeming mass out there (that`s you guys) with hardcore porn on demand.

Being populated with amateur titles the channel is different in character from its sister channel TelevisionX.co.uk. The people you see in the scenes, while enthusiastic, are not professionals, though the lighting and camera crews are obviously not guys who just happened to pop down from the local pub. Why do I mention that? You`ll see later.

The “Fitty” in question is waiting for the male half of this scene in her bedroom. He looks like a boy I used to go to school with who we called Rollo, so in the absence of another name I`ll call him that. There`s no real pretence at plot, just that this guy likes large boobs and that`s one thing she has. They`re large (DD), natural and eager to be fondled, and rubbed, and sucked and dangled on this guy`s stiff cock.

I mentioned at the start that the technical side of the scene was evidently non-amateur. That`s because they and their equipment do occasionally come into shot. Tighter camera work and more editing would have fixed most of these occurrences, but that would have detracted from the gonzo feel of the scene. Plus you`d have lost the moment where “Rollo” is pounding Fitty`s pussy with her legs around his ears and an arm reaches into shot to pick up what looks like a tube of lube from the bedside cabinet.

Mercenary Pictures is one of our favourite studios for a number of reasons. The output from Mercenary (at least in the movies we`ve viewed) is pretty conventional in that it`s scene based. However there`s a polish to the production that`s often lacking from adult DVDs and a smattering of “interaction” with the camera the fills out the scenes a little without the actors becoming too camera aware.

So, we`re very happy to hear that Lex is back in another Mercenary Pictures production “MILF Magnet”. Lex is reported as saying that he`s keen to cast a certain type of actress; “Girls that are mature, confident in their sexuality and genuinely enjoy sex are vital qualities”.

Big names sell. Big Names having sex sell even better. Photographic evidence too? You just name your price. But the fact is that when someone suddenly “discovers” a previously unknown piece of film or photographic print picturing a celeb you have to demand provenance.

Recent cases in the UK where autograph dealers were convicted for producing celebrity sportsmen`s signatures on a large scale are the thin end of the wedge. There was the famous “Hilter Diaries” incident too. So when Suze mentioned the Marilyn Monroe sex film yesterday I was a little sceptical. Apparently I`m not the only one.

The Defamer has a great article here debunking the film of Marilyn Monroe giving a blowjob to (it is suggested) one of the Kennedy clan.

The key points they make are:

· The film was supposedly made of Marilyn Monroe as a starlet. If filmed in this time period of Monroe’s life, why would the feds have cared about the activities of a young starlet, considering that Marilyn Monroe had not reached the heights of fame at the time this footage was claimed to have been filmed?
· “You see instantly that it’s Marilyn Monroe – she has the famous mole.” This is a quote by Keya Morgan, which is one of the flimsiest pieces of evidence ever presented. Just because this alleged film has a person with a mole, it’s instantly Marilyn Monroe?
· Essentially Morgan is claiming that this is a bootleg copy of a classified FBI film. So if an original is classified, why would the FBI allow this public brouhaha in the press and not stop this sale from taking place? Why would this film copy not be destroyed?

Have you ever tried to invent the most ridiculously cheesy, or naff film title you can. Well in the office we occasionally do, but when someone today actually said that Jenna Jameson had made a film called Zombie Strippers I thought they were pulling my leg.

They weren`t.

Sadly, from the reviews I`ve read of the film, the title`s the best part of the whole movie. When the first user comment on IMDB says “Not as good as it sounds” you have to question whether it`s one worth watching. However I`m sure I will and bring you the lowdown on it.

It has Jenna and Robert Englund (Freddie Krüger himself) so there must be some good moments in there. And if not it`ll probably turn into a cult classic.

Female producer, Lizeth Strange, is set to launch her Scandinavian Adult Channel on 7th February 2008. Lizeth`s company, Belais-Production, which was nominated for `Best Film` with `Danish Deluxe Hardcore` in the 2007 Scandinavian Adult Awards, owns, sells and buys exclusive content from adult companies in the Scandinavia territory; much of which has never before been available outside of Scandinavia.

We`re non of us perfect. I know I`m not, either in personality or appearance, so if I were actually bothered about the image that the popular media depicts as being the “ideal” I would have a constant struggle to try and attain it. And of course I`d be permanently disappointed.

So I was very impressed to hear that the producers of the new Star Trek movie are holding open castings for extras with unusual looks. That is, not your conventional cast of beautiful people that you would expect to be hired for films. Reading through the article on the BBC News website I was heartened to read that they are looking for people of all appearances that fall outside the conventional.

Then I hit the snag. Even in the enlightened egalitarian world of Trek there`s a caveat. All the extras must be skinny, to quote the invitation “Everyone must be thin, athletic, fit; wardrobe will be form-fitting. All hair lengths on males and females welcome”

So not quite as enlightened as you might have thought. Even in a fictional world with Utopian ideals such as the Trek Universe you still have to live on lettuce and be built like a long distance runner. Are there no curvy aliens? The Trek movie is about Kirk`s early adventures and I know that Yeoman Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney) had curves as did Vina the Green skinned Orion Slave Girl.

Maybe the extra mass would prevent the new Scotty (Simon Peg) from getting the Enterprise to Warp 1. Or maybe, just maybe, there`s no place for shapely actors and actresses in films …

There`s a growing buzz at the moment about Machinima. If you don`t know what it is I suggest you look here for the Wikipedia definition. However, like all evolving media Machinima is what you make it, quite literally. In theory anyone can now make a Macinima movie with their own PC.

You may have noticed the enthusiasm amongst the press about the Bloodspell movie earlier this year. The appeal of sword wielding Amazons never wanes. Now while I don`t necessarily believe the rather monotheist title of Matt Hanson`s book “The End of Celluloid“, I do agree with his comment that “[Bloodspell] ups the ante for the next evolutions in the discipline.”. And the Guardian describes it as “A movie that defies most of the rules of traditional film-making”

Like all media before it, be that painting, sculpture, film, television or the Web Machinima has developed an adult side. I first heard about this in the naughty side of second life. I say heard about the naughty side because I`ve never seen a Second Life orgy, or indeed experienced any naughtiness in any of my sessions. I obviously don`t get invited to the right kind of hula parties. LOL But it does go on because Second Life like all online games to a greater or lesser extent holds a mirror up to real life, and in real life people have sex.

It`s not so far fetched you know. Ten unknowns have been plucked from obscurity by Vertigo Films to appear alongside Paul Nicholls and Tim Healy in the rom-com “Faint heart” Directed my Vito Rocco. Vertigo have a name for very distinctive productions such as “Dirty Sanchez“, “Human Traffic“, “The Football Factory” and “It`s All Gone Pete Tong“. So they were probably the natural choice for MySpace`s Movie Mashup. Filming of “Faintheart” is scheduled to begin right around now. It`ll be interesting to see how “the world`s first user generated feature film” works out.

Sometimes you happen across a story that`s so timely you`d thing your guardian angel placed it there for you to find. But on Halloween of course it`s a big black guardian angel with fangs and pointy claws. Mwahahahaha! I`m quite happy on the eve of all hallows to accept this explanation of how I came across “Repo – The Genetic Opera”.

It was dark when I got home and the campanologists in the Church across the valley were practicing, or were they trying to push back the demon hoards and their Trick Or treating minions milling about in their point hats and funky wigs? Whatever. It put me in just the right mood for writing about Repo. Or is it Repo! I`m sure the exclamation mark is important.

Repo started life as a stage production in 2002 penned by Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. I have to admit my ignorance of their output. Apparently they blend performance art, music and theatre to produce their work, including Repo.

Originally Repo was a ten minute short opera called “The Necro-merchant`s Debt”. Smith and Zdunich produced the show in 2002 at the John Raitt Theatre in Hollywood, then again in 2004 at The SplitID Theatre, both productions were sell-outs. You can see elements of the stage show here. As I understand it the plot is superficially simple … In the not so distant future a pandemic of unprecedented proportions is causing the population`s organs to fail. Which is not a problem if you can afford a transplant. Unfortunately organs are so expensive they have to be leased and if you don`t keep up the payments the leasing company said the Repo Man to extract them … by any means necessary.

Wind forward to January 07 and the pair wheeled out a short film to entice a production company into producing a full length feature. And it worked. The full movie “Repo – The Genetic Opera” is in production and will be released next year in the US on 25 April 2008.

The film`s director is Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II and Saw III), which will give you a feel for the character of the production. Bousman`s style should suit this story down to the ground.

Three names that jump out at you from the cast list for good or ill are Paris Hilton “Pledge This” (2006), “Hottie and Nottie” (2008) and that awful “leaked” sex tape. Anthony Head “MacBeth” (2007), Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Little Britain. Sarah Brightman The Phantom of the Opera, the UK hit single “(I lost my heart to a) Starship Trooper” (If you don`t remember that track you can see it here, then you`ll wish you could forget it all over again Though this version is mixed with the movie “Starhip Troupers”, which actually improves it).

It`s a pity that the original players from the stage version have been replaced by the big names. Blind Mag, originally played by Annie Lee Moffett is now Brightman. Tony Perry`s Repo Man is now Anthony Head. Heather Sweet becomes Amber Sweet and turns from a pretty young actress from Manilla Marie-France Arcilla into, well, Paris Hilton. Maybe it had something to do with raising the finance for the feature film version?

I think the movie is destined to be a classic, maybe for all the wrong reasons, but a classic nonetheless. You have to recognise, just from the trailer the debt the production owes to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hellraiser and Saw (via Darren Lynn Bousman). The Bondage and BDSM imagery is distinct, if not exactly original.
