This is the second part of the interview with Renee Richards and Carmel Moore at the Passion Show last week. You can read the first part here.

Alex (to Renée): Are you in a long-term relationship?

Renée: On and off relationships, not a long term one as yet. But I always have a relationship going on, or two.

Alex: How do your partners deal with you doing the job that you do?

Renée: Some people are OK with it, some people aren`t. But it`s your job, your career at the time, and it`s what pays your bills. If you`re not going to have a partner who pays your bills you have to be realistic about it and get on with your job. And I enjoy my job as well.

Alex: Somebody understanding … does that have to be someone in the industry?

Renée: I`ve been with industry people before but it`s never really worked out.

Alex (to Carmel): So, the swingers party tonight, are you going?

Carmel looks non-committal.

Renée: She`s such a good girl, Carmel.

Carmel: But I`ve got a boyfriend!

Renée: You don`t have to DO anything, you can just watch.

Carmel: But I`d want to do things.

Alex: You couldn`t encourage your boyfriend to join in then?

Carmel: No, he`s a crank.

I get the feeling the description of her boyfriend is an affectionate use of the word crank as her brown eyes light up as she says it.

Renée: I love her and her American sayings “Crank!”

Alex: Carmel, you`re not leaving the industry are you?

Carmel: No! To be honest if I had my choice I`d want to be contracted and promote myself more. But it`s really hard, when you have a boyfriend, you know … it`s difficult with everyone putting ideas in their head an stuff. But if a good offer was thrown at me … hopefully it would snowball to bigger things.

Alex: Will you still be in the industry in 5 years?

Carmel: I dunno. When I first started I said I`d be working in this industry until my fanny drops off. You realise [one day you`ll have to stop] and constantly, all the time, there are people saying “It wont last for ever … what you gonna do?” it really fuck me off when people say stuff like that.

Alex: Thank goodness you didn`t hear me earlier [talking to Renée].

Carmel (laughing): Oh, you`re one of those fuckers. To be honest though, unless you`re a moron you have to be clear in your head what you want to do. If I wasn`t doing porn, I wouldn`t be me. I wouldn`t have been able to afford the surgery I`ve had done, I wouldn`t be the person I am now, So in that respect I thank the porn industry for making me myself. I`ll never be ashamed of it.

Alex: that`s impression I get from both of you, that the job is you.

Carmel: Yeah! When I`m on set doing a movie I feel really at home. It`s not just the money, it`s the places you go, the people you meet …

Renée: It`s your sexuality too, your sexuality grows …

Carmel: Before I would never have gone near a girl, whereas now it opens a whole new door … Men are scared of us you know. Men can`t get erections when we`re in the room. Non-deliverers! Just give ‘em one job, can`t do that.

Alex: One final question. What do you prefer, boy-girl or girl-girl scenes?

Renée: Boy-girl.

Carmel: Every day we wake up and pray for the cock.

Renée: Although I don`t know I like a bit of both.

Carmel: I`ve had some girls lick me out and while they`re doing it I`m thinking … you`re much better than a bloke.

Renée: Actually if they say you`ve got either Lolly Babcock or Cathy Barry to work with, and I`d go YES! I like my girl-girl scenes with them, they know how to get you off.

Carmel: I`ve never worked with Cathy …

Renée: Oh, Mrs Barry`s got me off big time … her fingers grrrrrr.

Carmel: Really! But I`m more with tongues, or a rub.

Alex: G-Spot doesn`t do it for you?

Carmel: Never done it. That`s your mission, if you`d like to find my G-Spot and make me squirt that`s a challenge that is.

Alex; I`d take that challenge, but she`d kill me.

I motion towards Suze, mingling with the rest of the TVX crowd.

Carmel: Don`t worry, she`s chatting them up. Anyway, I want to work with Cathy Barry now.

Alex: Is she here at Passion?

Carmel: I don`t know but if you see her tell her to come over and we`ll pop behind the sofa.

That seemed like as good a place as any to stop. We could have gone on for hours and I`m sure the swingers party near Regents Park would have been an interesting place to continue, but alas we`ll never know.

At the passion show we found ourselves surrounded by a huge range of products, from vibrators to video, and as it turns out corsets to chain mail gloves on the Engineers of Desire stand.

I spoke to Cas, the creative talent behind the Engineers Of Desire Name.

She told us, “I am the designer and maker of most of the stuff you can see here. All the corsetry and leatherwear is all my work.”

I asked where she learned the skills which make her creations possible. “Well, I`m self taught … I trained as a metalworker and in jewellery and you can still see elements of that in my work. I started getting into the fetish scene, and really into corset wearing and started making them myself.”

That did not surprise me as we often find that the craftspeople who create these wonderful objects in leather, metal, rubber and PVC originally do so because they can`t find what they want in the market place already.

When I asked exactly what sort of fetishes Cas was in to she replied with an impish smile “Body piercing, tattoos … ” I got the feeling that list might not be exhaustive.

Some of the items on the EoD stand were quite pricey so I asked if customers are put-off by the higher priced but unquestionably beautiful items. “There is a lot of corsetry on the market, the [mass produced] and the hand made. People know the difference when they see it and they like it.”

The difference is in the unusual details and forms. I asked Cas where she derived her inspiration from. “I don`t know … at work, in the workshop, things just come to me. I work with Nico, my partner and a lot of it is just our personal taste.”

I had to ask – how much does one of the EoD corsets cost? “They start at £175 – up to £300 for one of these natural grained wild animal leather. The leather is from animals culled in northern Europe. For custom work it`s £400-£500.”

The fetish community are very visually aware, clothing for them can be very important, so do the buyers of custom items approach Cas and Nico with ideas of their own? “The people who come to me like my work and then we work together on [the item]. When they come in I can see the shape and style of the person and from there we work together [on a piece].”

The gallery on the EoD site shows how imaginative their work is. The quality of each creation is of the highest order, making each piece beg to be worn.

We were undecided about attending the Passion Show this year. Funds as always are tight and while we wanted to be there both to have fun and find interesting stories to you, we had almost decided not to attend.

That was until TelevisionX persuaded us otherwise with the promise of an interview with Carmel Moore and Renée Richards.

We decided to take advantage of this opportunity as soon as we had entered Earls Court, so with Suze chatting to the TVX people I got to work on the sofa with Renée and Carmel.

There`s a lot to recount, this is just part one. I hope you enjoy it.

Alex: How does it feel to have a video of yourself having sex playing on a plasma screen on the front of the stand?

Renée: I feel kind of indifferent towards it, and I have a different look now so people tend not to recognise me.

Alex: Does your look mean a lot to you? Some stars have a consistent look throughout their careers, how about you?

Renée: No, not really, I`ve always had long dark hair. I just ended up cropping it all off and looking different today, a sort of younger life crisis I think.

Renée giggled at this point, then laughed when I mentioned I was due for a midlife crisis. Ice broken we continued to chat.

Alex: How long have you been in “the business”

Renée: 3 ½ years

Alex: Has that been a long 3 ½ years?

Renée: No it`s gone really quickly. I still remember my first boy-girl scene, my first girl-girl scene, my first solo … I was stripping for three years before that.

Alex: You`ve enjoyed all of it then? Don`t worry I`m not going to ask about any bad experiences.

Renée: No, no, no! They`ve been minimal actually, I`ve enjoyed most of my scenes, I`ve been quite lucky. The longer I`ve been in [the business] the more I`ve enjoyed the scenes I`ve been in, and the sex element. It`s [now] less of a “rabbit in the headlights” moment, it`s been more fun you know, more relaxed.

Alex: So at the beginning, was it quite scary for a newcomer?

Renée: Oh yes! I look back at my first boy-girl scene and I`ve got big eyes and not very natural, not being myself and not doing the things that I would naturally do. But after my fourth or fifth scene I got into it and it started to come naturally.

She laughs again realising the unintentional double entendre.

Alex: Without wanting to imply that you`re approaching the end of your career it has to be said that adult performers have a finite lifespan. You don`t look to be anywhere near that yet, but would you like to still be involved in the industry in a few years?

Renée: Yeah, yeah, I would. I`d like to live out all my pervy fantasies, direct, produce and all of that would be great fun. [I] shot one film already, last year, which was one of my pervy fantasies, boys taking it up the bum, with strapons – on girls. But I think I`m going to leave the industry this year, coming back now and again for a few photo shoots … I`m moving abroad so it`ll be a bit of a distance to travel. Even though I love TelevisionX it will be a bit too far to commute.

Alex: There`ll be a few disappointed people out there, me amongst them.

That worked I actually got a porn star to blush – back of the net. LOL

Alex: So you`re effectively stepping outside the adult industry altogether?

Renée: Yes I`ll just have to be pervy in my own home and at swingers clubs.

Alex: So you swing?

Renée: I do swing, I`m swinging tonight. I`m trying to coerce Carmel Moore to come swinging with me later.

Alex: So, whereabouts are you swinging then?

Renée: There`s a party in London apparently, big three story house, near Regents Park …

Alex: I`ll not tell anybody. Tell me, are you in a long-term relationship?
