TelevisionX’s answer to the Oscars and the Baftas, the Shaftas took place on the 24th of last month and we received this from them about the bash:

On Wednesday 24^th February the cream of the crop of the UK Adult Industry gathered under one roof to celebrate all that’s good in British porno. Television X hosted their SHAFTA awards in central London and honoured the best producers and horniest pornstars. A lot of time and thought went into choosing all the nominees for the 2010 Television X SHAFTAs and it was very hard narrowing it down to just five per category. Everyone that was nominated was truly deserving of the award. It was then left up to the Television X audience, of which 5000 voted, the first time that the public had full control over the outcome of an adult award.

It was quite an intimate affair and everyone that came along seemed to have a great time. From Angel Long’s acceptance speech proclaiming she loves anal, to Damian Duke admitting that he couldn’t sit down for a week after his Most Outrageous scene for Calling The Shots, there were no bum notes hit all day!!

Winners were cheered, tears were shed and fellatio was simulated with the golden-cock-shaped SHAFTA.

Girls of the day Syren Sexton and the Pure XXX team made up from Angel Long and Laura Macrow as they were seen clutching armfuls of awards as both managed to pick up two gongs each. Pure XXX is a totally female adult production company and their win today definitely puts them up with the big boys! Television X stalwart Portway Films not only scooped Best Interracial Series for Keisha Kane Extreme and Insane but Most Outrageous Sex Scene as well. It was Portway’s Ric Porter’s first ever adult industry award despite being in the business for 15 years and it’s well deserved!

Porno veterans Shagnasty and Muttley were in attendance as was the beautiful Havana, the sexy Sasha Rose and stud Pascal. It wasn’t just the performers who were on hand to cheer on their fellow winners as many of our producers came along as well. Scummy Mummies director Nigel Night was seen chatting to teen starlet and Asbo Trash Whores star Satine Spark, Mummy Mia director Andy Ide was sat with Greek stud Demetri XXX and Best Series winner Kaizen XXX was pleased to be thanked by Female Performer Of The Year Syren Sexton in her acceptance speech.

Sadly, SHAFTA-winners Tanya Tate, Kerry Louise and Jim Slip were not able to join us on the day due to filming commitments but all took a moment out of their busy schedule to send us acceptance speeches.

It’s awards season and if you’re in to that kind of thing you’ll be please to know that the awards on offer are not limited to conventional, mainstream film and television. TelevisionX are running the Shaftas to recognize adult performers.

The big difference from many awards is that all the winners will be decided by public vote. There’s no stuffy and distant academy deciding who’s due for an award this year, it’s all down to you.

Sasha Grey

While writing my previous post about Sasha Grey’s new film Malice In La La Land I realized how little I knew about her. So here’s a quick resume of the starlet for those of you who, like me, need to catch up with her career.

Sasha was born on 14 March 1988 in Sacramento California.

She now lives in New York.

She’s 5’6” tall, weight 110 pounds with a 32B-26-31 figure.

She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Moved to LA in 2006 to begin a career in adult films.

Sasha is already winning AVN awards (best three way scene January 2007), but although nominated didn’t win the best New Starlet Category. The competition must have been pretty stiff for that title, as were the men in the audience I suspect. In 2008 she did become the youngest performer to win the AVN Best female Performer award.

Sasha is that rare adult performer who seems to be making a success in the adult and mainstream movie and modelling industry. She’s been featured on the Smashing Pumpkins’ 2007 album cover “Zeitgeist” as well as gaining critical praise for her appearance in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience”

Bad Alice

Malice In La La Land looks like it’s going to be a sensational movie? Not heard of it, well that’s not surprising as it doesn’t start filming until 9 July 2009.

My source inside the production team was chatting to me on Friday and let slip a few really exciting pieces of information.

The movie will feature car chases and “explosions”.

The CGI effects are going to be undertaken by a couple of experts from Pixar.

The sets? Well so far we’re led to believe that they’ve spent €40,000 (Yes forty thousand Euro)

Car chases, explosions, amazing sets and CGI? Adult movies have really come of age don’t you think.

And one more tiny point. The movie will star the sensational starlet from Sacramento – Sasha Grey.

More news when we get it, if that wasn’t enough for you to be getting excited about.

The US presidential election has been the subject of much scrutiny from the porn industry. The implications of the change of administration and Larry Flynt’s appeal for a $5 billion support package for the sex trade is just part of it. There’s a new hope in America, but in some quarters a little trepidation about what the new administration and the economic climate will mean for the industry in 2009

Hustler produced the Nailin’ Paylin films and generated a huge amount of publicity. Sarah Pailin was even offered a huge amount of cash by one studio to appear for real in a Milf movie. She hasn’t accepted yet, but who know what will happen when she’s no longer Alaskan state governor.

The latest Porn Tie-in is that by Vicky Vette. She presents the “No More Bush” cam show, tonight at 7 pm EST. We can’t wait to se what they dream up next.

You`d have thought that an industry veteran like John T. Bone would have known that it`s illegal to make porn in Thailand. So why did the Thai police find him, camera in hand and lights a-blazing filming a new gangbang movie in Pattaya Thailand

The Pattaya Daily News reported that John was in the company of local girls and transsexuals, as well as “Brazilian nationals”. Arrested along with John T. Bone (AKA John Bowen) were Morikane, Wittaya Mekwilai, Philipe K. Orivera, Joe Macos Perlaila, Teres Sita Edades Philipina.

All those arrested face up to three years in prison and a fine of up to 6,000 baht – about $180 (US). I`m guessing they`ll be more worried about a custodial sentence than finding the money for the fines …

John seems to enjoy the company of the Thai authorities – He was arrested last year on similar charges when a quantity of DV tapes, sex toys and a list of his customers were seized.

John has directed and produced dozens of films including most recently “Latin Mother Fuckers”, “Hardcore Championship Fucking” , “World`s Biggest Gang Bang” , “World`s Biggest Gang Bang 2″ and “Totally Anal”, and appeared in titles such as “Horny Old Men” and “Straight A`s[sic]“.

The debate about whether or not pornography causes violent behaviour gets an airing on US TV this evening via Penn & Teller`s “Bullshit” show. Not the first people you`d think of to promote a discussion on a subject that polarises opinion in many sections of society. It`ll be interesting to see just how this plays out. Though sadly we will not get the show over in the UK for a while.

The show will feature the representatives from XXXChurch.com and the Family Research Council arguing against porno, and others, including Dr Marty Klein (Author of America`s War On Sex) arguing that there is no proven link between watching porn and violent behaviour.

How much difference this will make in changing the attitudes of those against porn and those in the industry is difficult to tell. The remarkable thing is that it`s being aired at all.

Mercenary Pictures is one of our favourite studios for a number of reasons. The output from Mercenary (at least in the movies we`ve viewed) is pretty conventional in that it`s scene based. However there`s a polish to the production that`s often lacking from adult DVDs and a smattering of “interaction” with the camera the fills out the scenes a little without the actors becoming too camera aware.

So, we`re very happy to hear that Lex is back in another Mercenary Pictures production “MILF Magnet”. Lex is reported as saying that he`s keen to cast a certain type of actress; “Girls that are mature, confident in their sexuality and genuinely enjoy sex are vital qualities”.

He went on “They know how to enjoy themselves and they deliver a truly great performance. Making ‘Lexington Steele: MILF Magnet` was a joy because all of these ladies were at their sexual peak, they knew what they want and weren`t afraid to let loose during the scene.”

Sounds good to us.

It would appear that Glamour modelling is turning into a bit of a family business as far as the Price`s are concerned. First Katie Price (AKA Jordan) and now Sophie, her 18 year old younger sister.

Stepping out into the world of work and baring all (OK, not quite all) is not the sort of thing that most careers advisers would recommend. But then Sophie`s big sister hasn`t done too badly out of glamour modelling and that business they call show.

It does make me very curious about why she chose the career she has. Makes me curious about a lot of things about Sophie.
