Sh! Is one of those rare and wonderful examples of a business that has avoided becoming homogenised and absorbed into a larger concern when it became successful. One of the reasons for this is that the whole concept of the store is about providing a service that is genuinely aimed at serving the needs of women. This concept is the core of what Sh! Do and how they have developed their business.
It would be difficult to imagine such a philosophy surviving within a larger concern and we should be thankful to the ladies of Sh! For the fact that they have not only made a success of the business online and off but have influenced the direction of the whole industry.
One of their key evolutionary landmarks was the rebranding and subsequent success of the toy that almost everyone recognises – the Jessica Rabbit. But their latest milestone is the opening of the Portobello Branch at Unit 4, 253 Portobello Road, London W11, on the corner of Lancaster Road. Doors open this weekend, 17 July 2010.
Because Sh! Is a women-centric establishment all male customers must be accompanied by a woman.
Bright pink and proud the shop is now open with a special invite-only soirée taking place on 22 July 2010. Should be fun as it will feature:
“bubbles and cup cakes, erotic art exhibition by Vanessa Luther-Smith (Sh! Girl), erotic book readings by K D Grace, Scarlett French (former Sh! Girl) and Kay Jaybee, burlesque taster class by Tempest Rose of Kitten Club fame, and a taster body confidence class by Delores Deluxe, also of Kitten Club fame. Toys and treats from our favourite suppliers…”
Good luck to a unique brand and the unique bunch of ladies who make it a success.
