UK Porn Industry HIV Scare

The UK porn industry quite literally went in to suspended animation following a scare which broke out on Tuesday evening when Keiran Lee, a performer for Brazzers made an announcement via the social networks.  He was in London attending a friends wedding when it was announced via Twitter the “Due to the issue in the UK I have decided to cancel all UK shoots and will not be filming on this trip to the UK, there seems to have been an HIV outbreak”.

Adult performers were obviously thrown in to a spin and the general public became aware due to postings on Facebook and Twitter that there were problems within the adult world.

The last scare of this kind took place in the USA, in August 2011 when the porn industry in LA came to a grinding halt following the revelation that a porn star had tested positive for AIDS.

An announcement was made by the UK adult industry’s professional body the AITA that issued a statement following the news that a UK adult performer tested positive to the initial test for HIV.  You can read the statement here.

Both the adult industry and public waited with baited breath for the results of a second test, fingers crossed that it came back clear.

And today you could almost hear the sigh of relief as it was announced via the AITA and social networks that the lady concerned had indeed tested negative for HIV.  But tongues were wagging about the initial results being wrong due to clerical error.  Some mighty cock-up if that is the case!

We would like to send our very best wishes to the lady concerned as she must have been to hell and back these last few days and if it turns out to be a clerical error then procedures need to be tightened up at the clinic concerned to avoid this ever happening again.

Breaths sigh of relief for all concerned.
